HISTORY
The Ogre Phi Ogre Class
At Hampton University, the Ogre Phi Ogre class is known for its sense of connection. In 1969, the Original Ogre Phi Ogres became the first students at Hampton to organize as activists and start the tradition of naming classes. They galvanized a movement, refused to remain silent, and engaged others in creating change.
The name has been passed down to subsequent classes, with Ogre Phi Ogre 19 being the current class on the campus to claim the name.
Hampton University is known for its various class names, which have been created, passed down, and changed over the years. Class names help unite students with those they are graduating with and add to the sense of community on campus.
